36 weeks!! - 37 weeks!!

The twins have officially arrived!!  They were born on Friday, July 6th at 4:53am and 5:21am, right at 37 weeks.  Tesla Bolyard Wolf arrived first weighing in at 5lbs 2oz and 19"long.  Jaken Tom Wolf arrived 28 minutes later weighing in at 7lbs and 21" long.  They are just precious and we are so in love with them!!

Here is the story of their arrival:
I had an appointment Tuesday July 3rd for my weekly check-up (36 weeks, 4 days).  I had to see a different OB as my regular OB was on vacation that week (we'd been joking that the twins were going to come while she was out of town).  Turns out my urine protein was pretty high and my BP was up, so the OB wanted to admit me for 24 hours for some tests.  I hadn't packed my bag or anything, so after I called Joe and updated him, I headed home to pack for what I thought would be just overnight.
Here is my 36 week picture - in my fashionable hospital gown.

Joe stayed with me for awhile and came back to visit the next day too.  We watched a few movies and had some good conversation.
Wednesday afternoon, July 4th - the OB came to talk to us about the plan. My test results came back with a very high amount of protein and my BP was climbing - diagnosing me as severely pre-eclamptic.  The OB informed us we had to go forward and induce my labor.  We had to decide pretty quickly whether we wanted to try for a regular delivery or a c-section.  We decided to go ahead and try a regular delivery.  So the process was started.  I was given Cytotek on Wednesday night to start my labor and then early Thursday morning I was started on Pitocin.  I was also given Magnesium throughout to keep the symptoms of pre-eclampsia at bay.
Labor was not very fun - issues with my epidural and having a more drug-free birth than I had desired - but the end result was two beautiful babies!  I was in labor for about 36 hours, pushed about 20 minutes for Tesla and then about 25 minutes for Jaken.

I also had postpartum hemorrhage, which was a bit concerning for everyone.  Joe was by my side the entire time but said I was pretty pale when they finally rolled me back to L&D for recovery (it took about 45 minutes to get everything back under control).  The OB that helped to deliver our beautiful twins was wonderful and did an amazing job!

Jaken had to go to the NICU for a bit - he had some slight respiratory issues.  It was a little bit before we got to go see him.  It was overwhelming joy when we finally got to hold him!

We had a few visitors who came to see Tesla.  But it was a few days before Jaken was able to join us so we treasured the times we got to spend with each one.  =)

a big Thank You to my Parkland peeps who sent us a yummy cookie bouquet!
Joe took a snooze in the afternoons, as much as he could
Heather & Weston came to visit Tesla too - they both got to meet Jaken in the NICU also

Sometimes in the early morning it was hard to go back to sleep so I took the opportunity to snuggle with Tesla and for a photo op.

We were elated when Jaken was finally able to join us!!  He came to stay on Sunday afternoon.  Here is our first official family photo.

We also celebrated the twins first week birthday this past Friday.  Here are a couple pictures that I just love!  =)

We are SO excited to have the twins here and will continue to keep y'all updated as we continue on this amazing (and sometimes exhausting) adventure!

Amazing you had those babies vaginally! And so heartbreaking you couldn't have Jaken with you right away! I'm sure that was difficult. They are looking delightfully healthy, you're doing a fantastic job!
